The beginning of the ‘Muscle car’ era is debatable. Some people (GM) will say it was the 1964 GTO. Other people (MOPAR) will say it could be with the introduction of the 1955 C300. The Chrysler 300s were the first production cars boasting at least 300hp stock. (Of course, that’s where the name came from). This was also the start of the famed 300 letter cars, which ran from 1955 to 1965 B thru L (no A or I). By 1962, it was the letter H. They made 435 H hardtops and 123 H convertibles in 1962. This H is a true survivor, all original, paint, chrome, and interior, everything except tires, belts, and hoses. It was originally sold in Walla Walla Washington (I understand that the area is a high desert climate). It was driven for about 10 years, and then stored for 20 years. There is no rust, but it does have its share of 46 years of scratches and stone chips. 300 letter cars came pretty loaded. This car only has a couple of options missing; the major one is Auto-Pilot (cruise control). Even at 4200 pounds, the 413 dual quad stock engine moves this car pretty good. It has a 150mph speedometer (stock) and magazine articles from the day say it could almost bury it. I’d love to restore it, but as we all know – It’s only original once. So here’s a rare piece of Chrysler history.
